The Horn under the Arc de Triomphe

On May 21, 2025, at the invitation of General Christophe de Saint Chamas, Governor of Les Invalides and President of the Flame Committee, and Sophie de Laporte, Founding President of the FRTM, the Rallye Trompes d'Yauville participated in the solemn ceremony for the Rekindling of the Flame of the Unknown Soldier under the Arc de Triomphe.

The 21 players of the Rallye Trompes d'Yauville (RTY) present, conducted by Jérome Duchalais, Musical Director of the RTY, and led by Jean-Noël Douay of the RTY and Bien-Aller Chartrain, were accompanied by Grégory Pichard, the renowned radoucist of the Débuché de Paris, Vice-President of the FITF (International Federation of French Horns), and Roland Duthoit, bass champion. Hubert de Maigret, trumpet and vocalist at the François Sommer Foundation's Club Périnet, also joined the ranks of the RTY at the invitation of its President, Bertrand du Peloux.
Echoing the sound of the bugle and the roll of the drum, while Hugues du Peloux, RTY flag bearer, and Sophie de Laporte laid the RTY wreath on the grave of the French soldier who died for his country, the group performed the fanfares from the program: “Les Honneurs”, “La Folinguet”, “La Rallye Bourbonnais”, “La Saint Hubert”, etc. More than 300 people gathered by the Flame Committee applauded enthusiastically, delighted and moved to participate in this ceremony dominated by the voice of the trumpets rising to the top of this monumental arch to better envelop it and perpetuate, on a May evening, at sunset, the memory of the victories of the French armies and the sacrifice of so many children from every village in France.
In these poignant moments, the trumpet spoke of the glory of the old country and the memory of the legendary heroes of its illustrious history. “O horns, sound beneath the arch and cradle our dead”...
