As part of the “A certain idea of France” cycle of the Army Museum’s musical season, the FRTM is sponsoring the grand horn concert by the Dromer Musical Institute players, presented at the Saint-Louis des Invalides Cathedral on Sunday, December 1st, 2024 at 4:30 p.m., in tribute to Free France and the Companions of the Liberation.

By playing the Chant des Partisans and the Marseillaise on the horn, by playing Honneurs aux fusillés du Mont Valérien, la Maurice Druon, Souvenirs aux Maquisards, Hommage aux Invalides, Hommage aux Piqueux, by playing and singing la Pierre Messmer, l’Hommage et l’Ode à Hubert Germain, dernier Compagnon, by singing le Printemps de Novel, La Piémontaise and by playing several other pieces from the great repertoire for hunting horn, the horn players under the direction of Nicolas Dromer will recall how much the horn speaks of the glory and fame of those who embodied the hope and honour of France during the Second World War.

13 horn players are taking part in this concert for horn players and choir: Nicolas Dromer, six-time international horn champion, Gustave Cuypers, Jérome Amelot, Maxime Dupuis, Yannick Bureau and Romain Renard, French champions, Guillaume Cintrat, Emmanuel Caillaud, François Bouttet and Jérome Lenfant, finalists of the French championship, Louis Metzelard and Clément Lequeux, 1st category, and Grégory Pichard, 3rd cat.

To accompany the compositions of Hubert Heinrich, Sylvain Oudot, Tyndare Gruyer, Christian Conte and Nicolas Dromer, Philippe Brandeis will perform on the great organ of the cathedral, and Johny Esteban, 1st tenor of the Radio-France choir, as soloist singer.

This concert by the entire Institut Musical Dromer is supported by the Fédération Internationale des Trompes de France and the François Sommer Foundation.
